About Us

 J. Everett Light Career Center is committed to ensuring success for all students who chose pathways through Career and Technical Education (CTE).  If your student receives accommodations or modifications for a learning disability, language barrier, or any additional impairment, please contact us to find out how we can help with successful education placements and transitions.

Learning Lounge

The nature of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is a combination of both theory and practice. This includes hands-on instruction and smaller learning environments of students with similar interests.  This can be conducive to more independent growth and learning.

With all students, individualized attention at school and home is critical to their success.

The Learning Lounge at J. Everett Light Career Center offers the following supports to students with disabilities.

  • Testing support

  • Small group study sessions

  • Assignment assistance

  • CareerScope Assessment

  • Tutoring

Working with Your High School

The Special Services department at J. Everett Light Career Center works with our sending schools to make sure  information regarding a student’s IEP, 504, and/or ILP is received and implemented.

JELCC Commitment

At J. Everett Light Career Center, we are committed to providing career and technical training to all students.  We strive to give students a unique experience that will lead them to a future that is bright and full of promise.

“Tell me and I forget.  Teach me and I remember.  Involve me and I learn.”  Benjamin Franklin

I provide support to our students and staff at JEL as the Special Services Coordinator. I earned my Exceptional Learners Certification from Indiana Wesleyan University and my BS in Family & Consumer Sciences and Housing & Environmental Design from Olivet Nazarene University. When working with students I love to see them develop confidence in their abilities and apply their knowledge to real situations. Outside of school, I enjoy watching my 2 year old son explore the world around him and also love spending time with my husband, our dog, and our 7 chickens.
