Course Information:
Students will be introduced to the science and art of providing professional support to veterinarians. Instruction includes basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and veterinary technician assisting skills. Students will develop leadership skills through participation in HOSA and have opportunities to participate in on-site and off-site clinical experiences. Students interested in off-site clinical experiences must provide their own transportation. Advanced Life Science: Animals, a science course, is also part of the curriculum.

I graduated from the Veterinary Careers Program in 2004. Since then, I spent 3 years at the Humane Society where I worked in the Screening/Intake as well as over in the Hospital as a Veterinary Assistant. I spent a few years in private practice after that before coming to the J. Everett Light Career Center to help with the Veterinary Program. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family. Fun fact, while I was taking my career center classes here at JEL, I also became a licensed Electrician and Plumber through a pool company that I have continued to work for off and on for 18 years.
