JEL Program

Visual design is used in some form by nearly every industry in the world. Logos, brochures, business cards, packaging & web design are just a few of the types of designs that every company in the world utilizes. A visual design artist is one of the top eight professional fields that will experience significant growth over the next ten years, estimated to be 20% or greater each year with salaries that range from $21,000 to $100,000 a year.
Students in Visual Design
and Advertising at J. Everett Light Career Center will create advertising and promotional materials by using their knowledge of layout, illustration, and computer design abilities. Students will learn to work with clients from the initial meeting to the end presentation of their design. Students will be instructed in the basic elements of design, drawing, illustration, and technical pre-press techniques, working with printers to see the process of design from step one to the final end production of a finished printed piece. We also will work with other vocational courses integrating our knowledge and talent on specialized assignments and/or competition projects
