Prerequisite: none Related College or Technical School Majors: Nursing, LPN, various other medical Job Opportunities: Nursing homes, Hospitals, Medical offices. This program has a two-fold objective. It prepares students for entry-level certified nursing assistant positions in health care facilities and also provides an exploration of the various careers in the health care industry. In addition, this course provides an academic foundation in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, infection control, human growth and development, and communication. Students can earn certification from the State Board of Health in Indiana as a nursing assistant following successful completion of this course. (CNA) A sample of topics/activities: Study medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Learn basic nursing skills. Second semester—intern in a clinical setting (hospital, nursing home, pharmacy, clinic Supply cost to student: Uniform and name tag $30. Wrist watch and white shoes are also needed. It is also possible to earn college credits from Ivy Tech State College for this course.
