One or two year program, two hours per day Related College Majors: Journalism, Mass Communications, Political Science, Sociology Job Opportunities: News and Sports Reporter for Television, Radio, Newspaper and Internet. Public/Community Relations for corporate and government agencies. This is a two-hour course in Electronic Journalism with an emphasis on writing and visual communication skills. Students will produce news reports on social, economic and cultural issues facing high school students. Background - With the arrival of digital and internet technologies, journalists are required to repurpose their stories for a variety of media. Radio and television stations and newspapers all have websites. Radio reporters now carry digital cameras to enhance their website stories. New partnerships between broadcasters and newspapers have brought about “convergence journalism”. Outlets - Student reports and programs are produced for NCTV the daily announcements for North Central High School WJEL UpFront - a cable TV news magazine seen throughout Marion County WJEL 89.3 FM, Indy’s most powerful high school radio station broadcasting 24 hours a day wjel.com - the station’s internet website The Northern Lights - newspaper at North Central High School
